Carolina Announces 2019 Schedule
May 6, 2019 | Men's Soccer
CHAPEL HILL – The University of North Carolina men's soccer team will host 11 matches in its new, on campus soccer stadium during the course of the 2019 season, with 11 of its 17 regular season games coming against teams that participated in the NCAA Championship last season. Carolina will also host six games against former UNC assistant coaches as part of the new stadium opening.
The Tar Heels will open their new stadium on Friday, Aug. 30, against Creighton in the Carolina NIKE Classic. Carolina will also host its alumni weekend during the Carolina NIKE Classic and close out the weekend by hosting UCF on Sunday, Sept. 1.
After the Carolina NIKE Classic, the Heels will only leave the state of North Carolina three times, all for games against conference opponents, as they travel to Virginia Tech (Sept. 13), Pittsburgh (Oct. 4) and Virginia (Nov. 1). The lone in-state road conference game will be a matchup against Wake Forest on Oct. 18.
The remaining conference schedule shapes up nicely as the Heels host Notre Dame (Sept. 20), Duke (Sept. 27), Syracuse (Oct. 12) and Louisville (Oct. 25).
For nonconference place, North Carolina hosts Harvard (Sept. 6), Davidson (Sept. 17), UNCW (Oct. 1), West Virginia (Oct. 8) and App State (Oct. 29) while it travels to UNC Greensboro (Sept. 9) and Campbell (Oct. 22).
Exhibition matches will kick off the season in Chapel Hill against Stetson on Friday, Aug. 16 before hosting NC State on Sunday, Aug. 18. The Heels will conclude exhibition play by traveling to the reigning national champions in College Park to take on Maryland on Sat, Aug. 24.
