Bronze Named To 2019 Women's World Cup Team For England

She is seventh former Tar Heel set to compete in France next month.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Increase the number to seven for the number of former University of North Carolina women's soccer players headed to France in June to play for their countries in the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Lucy Bronze, who plays for England, became the seventh former Tar Heel named to a roster for the 2019 tournament which will be held in June and July in France. Bronze played for the Tar Heels in 2009, leading Carolina to a national championship that season. She played for England in the 2015 World Cup in Canada and was named to the All-Tournament Team at the event.
She has been a member of the England full national team since 2013 with 66 caps and six goals scored. She plays professionally for French club Olympique Lyon and plays primarily at right back. She won PFA Women's Player's Player of the Year awards in 2014 and 2017 and in 2018 she was tapped as the BBC Women's Footballer of the Year.
She previously played for Sunderland Women, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City and the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Bronze will be joined in France by former Tar Heels Katie Bowen of New Zealand and Ashlyn Harris, Crystal Dunn, Allie Long, Jessica McDonald and Tobin Heath of the United States.
Bronze, Harris, McDonald and Heath all played together on UNC's 2009 NCAA championship team.
