Tar Heels in Fifteenth After Second Round of NCAA Regionals

EAST LANSING, MI – Through the delays and rain, the Tar Heels finished the second round of the NCAA East Lansing Regional with a score of 17-over-par 305, which places the team in 15th place.
Junior Brynn Walker recorded an even-par 72, the lowest round for the Tar Heels. Walker's round featured three birdies and twelve pars.
Senior Kelly Whaley fell 7 strokes after a 5-over-par 77 in round two.
En route to a 4-over-par 76, freshman Jennifer Zhou rebounded and improved 9 strokes between her first and second round performances.
Freshman Nicole Lu recorded an 8-over-par 80, and sophomore Ava Bergner tallied a 9-over-par 81.
The Kent State Golden Flashes continue to lead the tournament. The Arizona Wildcats, UCLA Bruins, Stanford, Indiana Hoosiers and Illinois are currently in the positions to advance to the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The third and final round of the NCAA East Lansing Regional will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, and the Tar Heels will begin its third round at 9:06 a.m.
