Tar Heels Team Up To Help Habitat For Humanity

UNC student-athletes and staff teamed up recently to benefit Habitat for Humanity, helping to put the finishing touches on homes in an Orange County neighborhood. Members of the rowing, women's soccer, volleyball and wrestling teams participated, along with several coaches and staff members.
Â
The UNC group spent an afternoon working in the Tinnin Woods neighborhood in Efland, N.C., painting porch railings and completing other tasks. Throughout the year individual teams hold Habitat build days, but the more relaxed summer schedule allowed the unique opportunity of gathering student-athletes and staff members from several different programs on a weekday afternoon.
Â
"It is always a good feeling to give back to the community and I'm happy we were able to do it together with a group of us," said Michael Goldfeder, a rising sophomore on the Carolina wrestling team, which had six team members and three staffers at the work day. "It was a special experience to spend time together for a good cause."
