Junkkari Finishes Runner-Up at European Ladies’ Amateur Championship

POOLE, England – Incoming freshman Krista Junkkari placed second at the European Ladies' Amateur Championship at Parkstone Golf Club in Poole, England. Junkkari shot -7 in four rounds of play at the par-72, 6,173-yard course to lead throughout the tournament. However, the title came down to a playoff that England's Alice Hewson captured on the fifth hole.
Throughout the tournament, Junkarri carded 16 birdies with five in the first two rounds and three each in the last two. The Kouvola, Finland native highlighted her week with an eagle on a par-5, 468-yard hole in the final round of play.
Junkarri signed her NLI with Carolina in November and will begin competition with UNC in the fall.
