Hillman, Neumen Win Gold At U19 World Championships
August 12, 2019 | Women's Lacrosse
North Carolina sophomores Elizabeth Hillman and Brooklyn Neumen helped lead the United States to a dominant 13-3 win over Canada to capture the gold medal at the 2019 World Lacrosse Women's U19 World Championship in Peterborough, Ontario. Hillman, one of two co-captains on the U.S. squad, scored early in the second half to put the Americans up 9-2.
The United States dominated the group stage, outscoring Canada, England and Australia 43-11 to advance to the quarterfinals. Blowout wins over Wales (26-0) and Australia (21-6) set up a rematch with the host Canadians for gold. After being upset by Canada in the gold medal four years ago, the Americans left no doubt in winning their fifth U19 world title.
