Carolina Falls to NC State 2-1 In Sunday Exhibition

Chapel Hill – North Carolina fell to NC State 2-1 in an exhibition Sunday night in front of a rowdy Chapel Hill crowd.Â

Both sides went in to halftime scoreless as the Heels out shot the Wolfpack 4-3 overall with a 2-0 edge in shots on goal. Â

In the second half, NC State jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead by scoring two goals in the first eight minutes. David Norris scored off a rebound in the box for the Wolfpack's first goal and David Loera scored on a penalty kick for the game-winner.

In the last 10 minutes, the Tar Heels ramped up the pressure as Santiago Herrera scored on a penalty kick in the 86th minute to make it 2-1.

The Heels had several chances late in the game, but they couldn't find the equalizer. UNC led the Wolfpack 14-8 in total shots while the Wolfpack led the Tar Heels 22-13 in total fouls.Â

North Carolina will play its final exhibition match on Saturday, Aug. 24 when they travel to Maryland.
