
Tar Heels Tabbed No. 6 In Preseason Poll

The University of North Carolina men's soccer team opens the 2019 season ranked as the No. 6 team in the nation by the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll released Tuesday afternoon. In nine years under head coach Carlos Somoano, the Tar Heels have been ranked in the top 10 in every preseason poll.
Carolina is one of seven ACC teams ranked in the year's preseason top 25 which included No. 4 Wake Forest, No. 9 Notre Dame, No. 10 Duke, No. 12 Virginia, No. 14 Louisville and No. 16 Virginia Tech.

The Tar Heels enter the 2019 season coming off four straight ACC Coastal Division Championships while opening a brand new, on campus soccer stadium. Carolina will kick off the regular season with the Nike Carolina Classic. The first game will be held on Friday, Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. against Creighton before closing out the weekend on Sunday, Sept. 1 against UCF at 7:30 p.m.
