Arkansas Knocks Tar Heels From Ranks Of Unbeaten

Tar Heels fall to SEC squad 2-0
FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. – The Arkansas Razorbacks beat a #1-ranked team for the first time in their women's soccer history Sunday afternoon, defeating top-ranked North Carolina 2-0 before a crowd of 1,058 fans at Razorback Field.
Arkansas entered the game without having allowed a goal in over 500 minutes of regulation time and it pitched the shutout at Carolina, holding the Tar Heels scoreless for only the 57th time in 969 career games.
Arkansas improved to 6-1-1 on the season with the victory while UNC fell to 7-1 in its last non-conference game of the season.
Anna Podojil put Arkansas ahead with her fifth goal of the season at 62:59, scoring on a counter attack. Podojil finished off a through ball from 12 yards out off assists by Marissa Kinsey and Taylor Malham.
The Razorbacks doubled their lead on Parker Goins' fourth goal of the season at 80:38. She was assisted on the goal by Tori Cannata. The goal came after a flick on by the Hogs, leading to a one-time shot into the lower 90 of the goal.
The Tar Heels outshot the Razorbacks 12-10 in the match and had a 6-3 edge in corner kicks. Katie Lund played all 90 minutes in goal for the Razorbacks and made three saves. Marz Josephson played the first half for Carolina in goal and did not face a shot on goal. Claudia Dickey played the second half in goal and made one save while allowing both Arkansas goals. Her goalkeeper record fell to 4-1 on the season.
UNC returns to action next Saturday when it plays at Louisville at 7:30 p.m. in a match to be televised on ACC Network Extra.

GAME NOTES:
- UNC is now 3-1 all-time against Arkansas. This was the first match in the series played in Fayetteville.
- The two-goal loss was only the fifth for the Tar Heels by a goal or more since the last game of the 1985 season. UNC has played 821 matches since the beginning of the 1986 season and this was just the fifth loss in that long string of game by more than a single goal.
- The loss was just the 75th in Carolina soccer history dating to 1979. UNC now has an all-time record of 854-75-40.
