The hot outside shooting that powered Pitt's comeback win in Chapel Hill went missing four days later as the Panthers made just 3 of 16 3-point attempts in a 66-58 loss at Miami. Freshman Justin Champagnie - who scored a career-high 22 points against Carolina - was especially cold, finishing 3 of 16 from the field against the Hurricanes.
Tuesday against Louisville was another disappointing setback for Jeff Capel's team. Pitt led 61-54 with just more than three minutes remaining in regulation and looked poised for a second win over the Cards in as many seasons. But the Panthers went scoreless the rest of regulation and UofL pulled away for a 73-68 victory. Trey McGowens continues to lead Pitt in scoring at close to 14 points per game, and the support of Champagnie and Xavier Johnson figures to have the Panthers in most every game the rest of the way.
