Hislop, Culton Earn Another Pair of EAGL Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Senior Khazia Hislop and freshman Elizabeth Culton earned East Atlantic Gymnastic League honors for the second week in a row, announced by the EAGL Wednesday. Hislop was awarded Specialist of the Week while Culton was again named Rookie of the Week, this time for their performances against Kentucky, NC State and Lindenwood on January 17.
Hislop placed among the top-five individuals in each of her three on Friday – tied for third on beam (9.875), tied for fourth on floor (9.875), and fourth on vault (9.850).
Hislop's floor score of 9.875 is consistent with her average of 9.850 or better which she has maintained since 2018.
Culton competed in all four skills in the Tar Heels' road opener and finished fourth in the all-around competition (39.075) behind three gymnasts from No. 11 Kentucky. Culton also finished second on beam with a career-high score of 9.900 and among the top five on bars with a score of 9.800.
The Tar Heels are back in action at home on Saturday, Jan. 25 as they take on Pittsburgh in Carmichael Arena at 3:45 p.m.
