Heels Wrap Up First Weekend Of Scrimmages

Chapel Hill, NC -- The North Carolina Tar Heels wrapped up their first weekend of scrimmages on Sunday as the Blue squad took a 6-3 win over Navy in six and a half innings at Boshamer Stadium. Blue outhit Navy by an 11-5 margin, and there was one error in the scrimmage.
Blue took a 1-0 lead in the first on an Aaron Sabato run-scoring double. Navy then took the lead with two runs in the top of the second on sacrifice flies by Kyle Smith and Earl Semper. Blue scored three runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead for good. Patrick Alvarez drove in a run with a double, Mikey Madej had a sacrifice fly and Dylan Harris had a run-scoring single.
Earl Semper gave Navy its last run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Blue got one run in the fifth on a Caleb Roberts single, then Eric Grintz scored on a fielder's choice in the sixth.
Dylan Harris was 2-4 with one RBI and one run scored, Aaron Sabato was 2-4 with two RBI, Angel Zarate was 2-3 with one run scored, and Patrick Alvarez was 2-3 with one RBI and one run scored to pace the Blue attack.
Navy was led by Jake Holtzapple, 2-4 with two runs scored, and Kyle Smith, who was 2-3 with one RBI.
Connor Ollio started for Blue, with Gage Gillian, Josh Dotson and Isaiah Bennett throwing in relief. Luca Dalatri was Navy's starter, and Michael Oh, Kyle Mott and Joseph Charles threw in relief.
The Tar Heels will next scrimmage on Tuesday.
