Women's Soccer Wins 3-1 Over BC To Remain Undefeated

NEWTON, Mass. – No. 1 North Carolina (6-0-0) topped Boston College (0-5-0) 3-1 behind two second half goals on Sunday afternoon to remain undefeated.
The game started slow for both offenses with one combined shot through the first 13 minutes.
Isabel Cox showed off her pace in the 20th minute by beating a defender, taking a shot that deflected off of the keeper and finished with her head to put the Tar Heels up 1-0 midway through the first half.
It was Cox's first goal of the season and sixth of her career.
The Tar Heels' offense began applying pressure to Boston College's back line after the initial goal. Izzy Brown had a chance in the 36th minute but the goalkeeper made a diving save to keep the Eagles within a goal.
North Carolina entered halftime with eight shots, with four on goal, and a five-to-zero advantage in corner kicks.
The Tar Heels did not waste any time in the second half, as Brianna Pinto finished a Rachel Jones cross just 24 seconds into the period to give UNC a 2-0 advantage.
After a few minutes of back-and-forth action early in the second half, the Tar Heels pushed the lead to 3-0.
Talia Dellaperuta scored her second goal in as many games in the 54th minute when she struck the ball from the top of the box and put the shot past the goalkeeper.
Brown had another chance midway through the second half from point-blank range but her shot attempt bounced off of the goalkeeper's face to keep the match within three goals.
The North Carolina attack never stopped as Jones made an incredible run through the top of the box and fired a shot in the 79th minute but her attempt sailed just north of the crossbar.
Boston College netted a goal in the 83rd minute to pull the Eagles within two goals.
Before the goal, North Carolina had not allowed a score in 499 minutes of game action.
The Tar Heels held a 18-7 shot advantage and put 10 shots on net while Claudia Dickey made a pair of saves.
North Carolina turns its attention to Duke (Oct. 23) at Dorrance Field. The game is set for 7 p.m.
