Tar Heels Team Up To Support UNC Lineberger
October 27, 2020 | Field Hockey, Student-Athlete Development
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina field hockey team is showcasing the Power of Pink as the Tar Heels finish up a month of fundraising to benefit the fight against breast cancer through UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The Tar Heels will host Wake Forest on Friday at 4:30 p.m. for their annual Pink Game, with players sporting pink accents in pre-game and during the game at Karen Shelton Stadium. Due to continuing Covid-19 restrictions, the facility is not open to the public, but fans can watch the game live on the ACC Network.
Senior Bryn Boylan organized the team's participation in the fundraising campaign and has a personal tie to the effort through her mother, Angie. "I think this is such a great cause and it means so much more to me personally that I know a few women who have had their own battles with breast cancer, including my mom," Boylan said. "She has been unbelievably strong through the whole process and I'm so grateful to have such an inspiring role model as my mother. It's so important to fundraise for patients who need breast cancer care at UNC Lineberger so we can keep supporting strong, beautiful, powerful women in our community."
The team has set a goal of raising $5,000 toward the campaign. To support the Tar Heels' fundraising efforts, click here.
