Navy Takes A 5-1 Win In Game One Of The Fall World Series

Chapel Hill, NC - The Navy squad scored four runs in a big fifth inning to take a 5-1 win over Blue in Game One of the best-of-five game Fall World Series on Thursday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium.
Mac Horvath's bases-loaded infield single with two outs in the third drove in the first run of the game. Brett Centracchio's two-run double down the right field line in the fifth put Navy up 3-0. Max Trojani's sacrifice fly then made it 4-0 before Johnny Castagnozzi's run-scoring single gave Navy a 5-0 lead. Mikey Madej's sacrifice fly in the bootom of the fifth gave Navy its only run of the contest.
Will Sandy started for Navy and picked up the win in the seven-inning contest by giving up one run on four hits while striking out three and walking none in 4.2 innings. Michael Oh finished up on the mound for Navy by hurling 2.1 scoreless innings. Austin Love, Kyle Mott, Shawn Rapp and Chris Joyner all threw for Blue.
Caleb Roberts and Brett Centracchio were the only players with multiple base hits as each went 2-4 at the plate. Centracchio, Jake Holtzapple and Mikey Madej each had a double for the only extra base hits of the game.
The two teams will face off again on Friday afternoon at the Bosh.
