OT Goal Sends Notre Dame By Men's Soccer In ACC Quarterfinal, 1-0

CHAPEL HILL—Aiden McFadden scored on a free kick late in the first overtime to send Notre Dame to a 1-0 win in extra time over third-ranked North Carolina in an Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament quarterfinal match on Sunday afternoon at Dorrance Field.
After the officials whistled a Tar Heel foul against Notre Dame's Matthew Radivojsa on the left side near the corner of the box, McFadden connected on the ensuring free kick to clinch the victory with 31 seconds remaining in the first overtime period.
The Tar Heels (3-2-2) see their 2020 fall season come to a close with the loss. The Fighting Irish advance to the ACC semifinal to play top-ranked Pitt.
Alec Smir (3-2-2) went the distance in goal for the Tar Heels and posted a stellar effort, making three saves in 99:29 of action. Keagan McLaughlin made a career-high five saves for the Irish.
Milo Garvanian and Joe Pickering led Carolina with three shots apiece.
