Chapel Hill, NC --Â After Friday's scheduled scrimmage was rained out, the North Carolina Tar Heels returned to Boshamer Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a seven-inning scrimmage, with the Blue squad rallying for a 7-6 win.
Navy took a 2-0 lead in the first on Tyler Causey's two-run single to right. Angel Zarate then had a pair of RBI-singles in the second and fourth for a 4-0 lead before Blue plated their first run on a fielder's choice in the fourth. Zarate's RBI-double and a Patrick Alvarez run-scoring single gave Navy a 6-1 lead in the fifth before Blue came roaring back.
Aaron Sabato got Blue one run in the fifth with a solo homer to left center, then Blue took the lead for good with a five-run sixth inning. Caleb Roberts scored on an error to cut the Navy lead to 6-3, then Clemente Inclan stroked a two-run double to pull Blue within one run. Mikey Madej's single to right tied the score at 6-6 before Inclan scored on a wild pitch for the final 7-6 margin.
Angel Zarate had a huge day at the plate, going 5-5 with two doubles. Caleb Roberts added a double, and Sabato's home run was the only other extra base hit.
Joey Lancellotti and Austin Love got the starts. Michael Oh, Chris Joyner, Andrew Grogan, Gage Gillian and Austin Elliot also saw action on the mound.
The Heels will next scrimmage on Sunday.
