Pitching Dominates Saturday's Scrimmage

Chapel Hill, NC --Â Â The Blue squad broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the bottom of the eight inning and held on for a 3-2 win over Navy on Saturday afternoon at a frigid Boshamer Stadium. Blue outhit Navy by a 9-7 margin. Each team had one error apiece.
Blue scored first in the fourth when Eric Grintz scored on a fielder's choice. Navy then tied the score in the sixth when Danny Serretti scored on a fielder's choice. Blue picked up a pair of runs in the eighth. Tyler Kehoe drove in a run with a single to left, then Will Stewart scored from third when Blue attempted a steal of second. Dylan Harris scored the last run of the day on a fielder's choice in the ninth.
Blue was led at the plate by Eric Grintz, Tyler Kehoe and Will Schroeder, who all went 2-4. Grintz scored a pair of runs. Navy was led by Dylan Harris, 2-3 with one run scored, and Patrick Alvarez, 2-4 with a double. Danny Serretti's double was the only other extra base hit.
Will Sandy started for Blue, with Davis Palermo and Kyle Blendinger throwing in relief. Michael Oh started for Navy, with CadenO'Brien, Gage Gillian and Joseph Charles throwing in relief.
The Tar Heels will hold their final preseason scrimmage on Sunday afternoon.
