Heels Hold Final Preseason Scrimmage On Sunday Afternoon

Chapel Hill, NC --Â Joey Lancellotti's two-run double to left with two outs in the bottom of the eighth and final inning gave the Blue squad a 4-3 win over Navy in Carolina's last preseason scrimmage on Sunday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium.
Navy picked up the scrimmage's first run on a Kyle Smith single in the top of the second before Blue responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame. Danny Serretti scored on a bases-loaded wild pitch, then Angel Zarate scored on a fielder's choice.Â
Navy scored two runs in the top of the fifth to take a 3-2 lead. Tyler Kehoe scored on a bases-loaded passed ball before Kyle Smith scored when Tyler Causey was hit by a pitch with the bases full. Blue scored the game-winning runs in the bottom of the eighth. With men on second and third and two outs and an 0-2 count, Joey Lancellotti ripped a double down the left field line to plate the winning runs.
Nik Pry started for Blue, with Chris Joyner, Nick James and Austin Elliott throwing in relief. Connor Ollio started for Navy, with Kyle Mott, Isaiah Bennett and Shawn Rapp throwing in relief. Ollio pitched the longest, giving up two runs in 5.0 innings.
The Tar Heels open their 2020 season against Middle Tennessee on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Boshamer Stadium.
