2019 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Scholars of Distinction

North Carolina junior Mimi Leonard has been honored as a Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I Scholar of Distinction, as announced Monday by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. The award recognizes Division I field hockey student-athletes who achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.9 or better through the fall 2019 semester.

Leonard, from Trumbull, Conn., is majoring in business administration and has perfect 4.0 GPA. She is in her first year at UNC after transferring from Saint Louis during the summer of 2019. Last fall, she came off the bench to appear in four games for the Tar Heels as they won NCAA and Atlantic Coast Conference titles.

The award is the latest academic honor to be announced by the NFHCA. Earlier this month, UNC was honored with a National Academic Team Award and 11 Tar Heels were named to the National Academic Squad.
