Matson A Semifinalist For AAU Sullivan Award

North Carolina sophomore Erin Matson has been named a semifinalist for the AAU James E. Sullivan Award, which recognizes the nation's top amateur athlete.

Matson, a journalism major from Chadds Ford, Pa., was the winner of the 2019 Honda Sport Award for field hockey and the NFHCA National Player of the Year Award, recognizing her as the top player in collegiate field hockey after she led UNC to a second-consecutive undefeated season. Matson was the national scoring leader as the Tar Heels went 23-0 for the second year in a row, winning NCAA and Atlantic Coast Conference championships.

Fan voting is part of the process as the semifinalists are narrowed to finalists, with the winner set to be announced on April 21. To vote for Matson, click here.
