April 20, 2020 | Softball, Women's Rowing, Swimming & Diving, Student-Athlete Development
Three Tar Heels have been selected to participate in the NCAA Career in Sports Forum, an annual event that brings together student-athletes from NCAA member schools to learn about and explore potential careers in sports, with a focus on collegiate athletics.
Carolina juniors Megan Dray (softball), Juliana Micchia (rowing) and Mary-O Soule (swimming & diving) were picked for the program. All hope to have careers in sports after graduating from UNC.
Dray, from Lynchburg, Va., is majoring in business administration. She hopes to work in sports marketing after graduation.
Micchia, from Wake Forest, N.C., is working toward a double major in political science and peace, war & defense. She hopes to work in sports marketing, sports consulting and/or collegiate athletics administration.
Soule, from Asheville, N.C., is majoring in sports administration. She hopes to work in sports marketing or event planning.
This year's forum, scheduled for late May, will take place virtually and include speakers on a wide variety of topics including self-awareness and its role in professional development; practical approaches to the sports job search; personal branding; and developing a career plan. Through panels, breakout sessions, presentations and discussions, program participants will gain a thorough understanding of athletics as a career path.
