January 12, 2021 | Women's Lacrosse
CHAPEL HILL—The four-time defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion North Carolina women's lacrosse team will once again face one of the nation's most challenging schedules, as longtime head coach Jenny Levy announced the 2021 Tar Heel schedule on Tuesday.
The Tar Heels, who were undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the nation last year when the season was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic, enter the 2021 season among the national championship favorites.
Led by preseason National Attacker of the Year Jamie Ortega, National Defensive Player of the Year Emma Trenchard and UNC career scoring leader Katie Hoeg, Carolina will begin the 2021 season on February 13 against James Madison in the first of a six-game homestand at Dorrance Stadium.
The Tar Heels are scheduled to begin the season with home contests against James Madison (Feb. 13), Florida (Feb. 19), High Point (Feb. 21), Duke (Feb. 26), Vanderbilt (Feb. 28) and Boston College (March 6).
UNC will hit the road for the first time with play back-to-back road games at Virginia Tech on March 11 and 13, then visit Louisville on March 20.
Other home games include contests against Mercer (March 27) and Syracuse (April 3) and back-to-back home games against Virginia on April 16 and 18.
The regular season will end on April 23 at Duke, and UNC will host the ACC Tournament on April 28-May 2 at Dorrance Stadium.
