Swim & Dive Fall To Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. – The North Carolina swimming and diving team was defeated by the University of Georgia on Friday, October 22. Although there were numerous close finishes on both sides, UGA was too much for UNC by a 175-120 margin on the women's side, and a 164.50-130.50 margin on the men's side.
UNC Diving had a dominant show in the 1-meter and 3-meter events. The men swept the top three spots in both the 1 and 3-meter events, with Anton Down-Jenkins notching the top spot for the second time this year with a score of 385.73.
Alex Hart and Campbell Worsley claimed second and third in both competitions.
Aranza Vazquez and Paige Burrell also displayed dominant performances to earn first and second place in the 1- and 3-meter events.
Valdas Abaliksta led on the men's side by earning first place in both the 100 and 200 Yard Breast. Abaliksta was also part of the Men's 200 Yard Medley Relay and the Men's 400 Yard Free Relay that both took second place.
On the womens's side, Grace Countie, Amy Dragelin, Heidi Lowe, and Greer Pattison featured in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay to close the meet with a first place finish.
Countie also claimed first place in the 50 Yard Freestyle and placed second in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with Pattison, Lowe, and Skyler Smith.
Ellie Vannote picked up two second place finishes in the 100 Yard Fly and the 200 Yard IM competitions to add to the women's score.
Dragelin also had a strong showing, as she picked up second place in the 200 Yard Back event in addition to her first place finish in the 400 Yard Free Relay.
The Tar Heels return home for their next competition in Koury Natatorium. UNC will compete against Georgia Tech on November 5 at noon.
