Shaffmaster Named ACC Freshman of the Week

CHAPEL HILL – For the second time this season, Mabrey Shaffmaster has been named the ACC Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

In Carolina's two victories over NC State and Duke last week, the outside hitter racked up 32 kills, 14 digs, five block assists and three service aces.

Against the Wolfpack, Shaffmaster recorded her fifth double-double of the season with a match-best 19 kills and 11 digs. Versus the Blue Devils, the freshman had 13 kills, matched her career-best of three block assists and had two aces from the service line.

Mariana Brambilla of Georgia Tech was named ACC Player of the Week.

Up next for the Heels is a pair of matches on the road. First at No. 14 Georgia Tech (16-3, 7-2 ACC) on Friday at 7 p.m, before traveling to Clemson (11-10, 3-7 ACC) to take on the Tigers on Sunday at 1 p.m.
