Women's Golf Moves Up Four Spots at Landfall

Aseguinolaza Shoots 71 in Final Round
Sophomore Natalia Aseguinolaza shot a 1-under-par 71 to lead the University of North Carolina women's golf team to its best round of the tournament as the Tar Heels climbed four spots in the standings Sunday on the final day of The Landfall Tradition.
Carolina shot 2-over-par 290 on Sunday to move into 14th place in the 19-team field. UNC's 290 tied the fifth-best team score of the third and final round.
In addition to Aseguinolaza's 71, three other Tar Heels – Crista Izuzquiza, Kristen Junkkari and Stephany Kim – all shot 73s today.
Aseguinolaza's 71 was Carolina's best round of the tournament, helping her tie for 43rd overall at 7-over 223.
Junkkari had UNC's best finish as she shot 75-72-73 to tie for 30th at 4-over 220.
Izuzquiza tied for 52nd at 9-over 225, Kim tied for 66th at 12-over 228 and Kayla Smith was 82nd at 233.
South Carolina won the team and individual titles. The Gamecocks shot 291-288-280 for a 15-under 849, 12 strokes ahead of runner-up Michigan, the only other team to finish under par. Michigan State (+1), Wake Forest (+7) and Virginia (+8) rounded out the top five.
South Carolina's Justine Fournand was the medalist by three strokes at 8-under 208 (67-73-68).
The Tradition was Carolina's fourth and final event of the fall semester.
