Field Hockey Kicks Off Power Of Pink Fundraising
October 7, 2021 | Field Hockey
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Ahead of Friday's battle with Duke, the North Carolina field hockey team is joining the battle against breast cancer by launching a month-long fundraising effort to benefit UNC's Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The Tar Heels host the Blue Devils at Karen Shelton Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. and have designated that contest as the annual Pink Game. Carolina will sport pink shirts during warmups, and players and staff plan to honor friends and family who have battled breast cancer during the game.
Fans can join the Tar Heels in the fight against breast cancer and help the team reach its $5,000 fundraising goal by donating here. The drive will continue throughout the month of October.
In an added incentive this year, the UNC and Duke field hockey teams will compete against each other to see which team can raise the most to benefit the schools' respective cancer centers. Stay tuned to GoHeels.com and the @UNCFieldHockey social media channels for a report at the end of the month.
Carolina has three more home games at Karen Shelton Stadium this month: Friday against Duke, Sunday at 3 p.m. against Liberty, and Oct. 22 against Louisville.
