Jones Honored As A CoSIDA Academic All-America

CHAPEL HILL – North Carolina senior forward Rachel Jones has been named to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Women's Soccer Second Team.
A native of Lawrenceville, Ga., Jones compiled a 3.95 grade point average (GPA) earning her bachelor's degree in public policy before enrolling in the UNC School of Law for the 2021 fall semester.
Jones is one of 18 different student-athletes in program history to be voted a CoSIDA Academic All-American and one of only six to earn the distinction multiple times.
A third-team Academic All-America selection in 2020-21, she is one of 10 repeat performers on this year's squads.
To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. Jones was selected to the Academic All-District III squad - which is made up of schools North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee - in November.
She was previously named to the ACC All-Academic Team, president of UNC's Student-Athlete Advisory Council and was a member of the ACC's Student-Athlete Advisory Council.
On the pitch, Jones earned First Team All-ACC honors in 2020 and was named a Third Team All-American. She logged nearly 4,600 minutes with 14 goals and 17 assists during her Carolina career.
