Carolina Notes
• Hubert Davis wins his ACC debut on the road. He joins Frank McGuire, Dean Smith, Bill Guthridge and Matt Doherty in winning both their first ACC games as UNC head coach and their first ACC road games.
• The win was No. 2,300 in UNC history. Carolina joins Kentucky and Kansas as the only programs with 2,300 wins.
• Carolina set season highs in field goal percentage (.546), three-point percentage (.588), FG percentage in a half (.655 in the second) and assists (21).
• Carolina's field goal percentage in the second half was its highest in a half on the road since shooting 74.1 percent in the first half at Wake Forest on 2/16 /2019.
• RJ Davis led UNC with 23 points. This was the 11th 20-point output of the season by a Tar Heel. Last year, four Tar Heels scored 20 or more points seven times all season. Davis is one of five Tar Heels to score 20 this season.
• Armando Bacot had 15 points and 13 rebounds, his fifth double-double in eight games this year (and 23rd career). The last Tar Heel with five double-doubles in the first eight games was Brice Johnson in 2015-16.
• Brady Manek scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half when he made all three of his three-pointers. His first three today was the 250th three-pointer of his collegiate career.
• This was the third time this season Manke made at least three 3FGs in a game.
• Carolina came into the game 10th in the nation in three-point percentage (.415) and made 10 of 17 (.588). The Tar Heels converted 7 of 9 three-pointers in the second half.
• Davis recorded his second career 20-point game.
• Davis was 4 for 6 from three, the third time in his career he made four threes in a game (six vs. Brown earlier this season and four last season in the ACC Tournament vs. Virginia Tech).
• Davis and Caleb Love combined for 40 points, 10 asssists, four turnovers and four steals. They were a combined 15 of 29 from the floor, including 7 of 12 from three, and 3 for 3 from the line (all Davis).
• Love had five assists and one turnover. He has more assists than turnovers in all eight games this season.
• Carolina is 56-13 in ACC openers.
• UNC went on a 22-4 run after trailing for the final time, 39-38, early in the second half.
• Tech went on a 13-0 run of its own in the first half after UNC had leads of 12-4 and 14-10.
