CHAPEL HILL—There was quite a shakeup in the Oracle ITA Team Rankings, released on Wednesday, headlined by ITA Indoor National Champion North Carolina taking over the top spot in the poll.

Carolina last was ranked No. 1 on April 5, 2016, the last of eight consecutive weeks that saw the Tar Heels top the rankings (from Feb. 17, 2016, through April 5, 2016).

After going 0-3 over the national championship weekend last week in Illinois, former No. 1 USC fell seven spots to No. 8. No. 5 TCU (previously No. 3) and No. 7 Texas (previously No. 5) joined the Trojans in moving down the rankings after going 1-3 at Indoors themselves.

Reaping the benefits of a strong showing at Indoors are 2021 Indoors champions No. 1 UNC (previously No. 2), runner-up No. 2 Baylor (previously No. 4), No. 3 Tennessee (previously 10), No. 4 Virginia (previously 7), and No. 6 Illinois (previously unranked). The teams who competed at Indoors make up the entirety of the top eight spots in the rankings.
