CHAPEL HILL—Noah Holmes scored in the 52nd minute to lift Liberty to a 1-0 men's soccer win over North Carolina on Thursday night at Dorrance Field.

The Flames improved to 4-0-1 this season, while Carolina dropped to 3-3-2.

After a scoreless first half, Liberty took the lead early in the second stanza. Marko Mitrevski assisted on the game-winner, feeding Holmes from the right side into the box for the goal.

Carolina outshot the Flames, 8-7, but Liberty had two shots on goal to UNC's one.

Alec Smir played all 90 minutes in goal for the Tar Heels and made one save. Danny Cordero went the distance in the goal for Liberty, also making one save.

Carolina will return to action on Friday March 5 at home against Pittsburgh.
