Quartermain to Join Tar Heels in 2021-22
February 8, 2021 | Women's Golf
Riley Quartermain of Bryn Mawr, Pa., will be joining the Carolina women's golf team next season, head coach Jan Mann announced today.
Â
"We are excited about Riley's potential as she becomes part of the Carolina Golf Family," Mann said. "While her start to golf may have been later than normal, her work ethic, athleticism as a multi-sport athlete, and quick development with her swing coach makes her a perfect addition to our program. One of the joys of coaching is to watch players develop throughout their time playing collegiate golf, and we look forward to working with Riley here in Chapel Hill!"
Â
A four-year letter winter at Haverford High School, Riley Quartermain was the 2020 High School Central League medalist, shooting 72. The four-year first-team All-Central League selection was the first player to qualify for the PIAA State Championship from Haverford High School in 25 years. Quartermain placed second at the AJGA Golf Performance Center Junior Open with rounds of 74 and 76. Quartermain also played basketball and lacrosse as a freshman at Haverford.
Â
"I chose UNC because it provides both incredible academics and athletics," Quartermain said. "I am confident that the coaching staff, great facilities and strong players at UNC will help me achieve my goals and push my game to the next level. I grew up in North Carolina and have always wanted to return to the state for college, so I am very grateful for the opportunity to become a Tar Heel."
Â
The Philadelphia native is the daughter of Christy and Michael Quartermain and has two younger siblings, Ella and William. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society and Science Academy. A volunteer at First Tee of Greater Philadelphia, Quartermain plans to major in biology or mathematics at Carolina.
