Tar Heel Player Notes
• Caleb Love became the first Tar Heel to ever score 25 points and have seven assists at Duke and just the third Tar Heel to reach those figures in any game vs. the Blue Devils. Charlie Scott had 34 points and eight assists in 1969 and Phil Ford had 28 and 8 in 1976, both at Carmichael Auditorium.
• Love is the third UNC freshman with at least 20 and 5 against Duke – Walter Davis had 31 and 5 at home in 1974 and Joseph Forte had 24 and 5 at Duke in 2000.
• Love set his season high in points (25), field goals (9),three-pointers (4) and assists (7). The points, field goals and threes tied the season high by any Tar Heel.Â
• Love had made four threes combined in UNC's previous four games.
• This was the first game Armando Bacot (16), Garrison Brooks (12) and Day'Ron Sharpe (11) all scored in double figures.
• Leaky Black scored 12 points, his fourth game in double figures this season and the first time since he netted a career-high 16 at Miami on 1/5/21.
• Black was 4 for 4 from the floor, had four assists and was a plus 16, the second best on the team.
• Bacot led UNC with a plus 19, his second best of the season (+2 vs. UNLV in November).
• Kerwin Walton tied his season high with four three-pointers (three in the first half). It was the third time he's made four (Notre Dame and FSU) and the fourth straight game he's made multiple threes.
• Sterling Manley dressed out for the first time this season. Still no timetable for his return to competition.
Â
