Women's Tennis Tops Tribe, 7-0

CHAPEL HILL - North Carolina reshuffled its lineup against William & Mary on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference women's tennis match on the outdoor courts at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
The result remained the same for the No. 1 ranked team in the country. Carolina (16-0) produced a 7-0 victory over the visiting Tribe (2-4) under cool and overcast conditions in Chapel Hill.
Alle Sanford and Reilly Tran continued their stellar doubles play that helped give UNC an early 1-0 lead. The duo improved to 10-2 this spring in dual matches.
The singles lineup was anchored by graduate student Makenna Jones, but also featured rookies Fiona Crawley and Tran, sophomores Kacie Harvey and Anika Yarlagadda and Sanford.
Jones registered career victory No. 108 to make it a 2-0 Tar Heel lead on court two.
The bottom of the lineup later rattled off victories from Harvey (court six), Sanford (court five) and Tran from court four. Yarlagadda won on court three and No. 120 Crawley made it a 7-0 sweep when she finished up on court one.
Carolina hosts No. 8 Duke on Friday at 3 p.m.
