Zhou Leads Tar Heels In Round Two of Gamecock Intercollegiate

COLUMBIA, S.C. –Jennifer Zhou shot a North Carolina-best one-over-par 73 in round two of the Gamecock Intercollegiate as North Carolina sits in eighth place after two rounds of play.
As a team, UNC shot nine-over-par with a 301. Teams began the third round Tuesday afternoon due to forecasted inclement weather and will resume play in the morning.
Zhou fired three straight birdies on the front nine and four within five holes and finished with six birdies.
Freshman Nicole Adam fired two-over-par 74 in round two. Although Adam was over par on the front nine, the freshman birdied three holes, including the 475-yard, par-five 12th hole that she bogeyed in round one.
Sophomore Krista Junkkari also carded two-over-par 74 in the second round. The sophomore fired two birdies, including the 12th hole and ended the round with four-straight pars.
Freshman Natalia Aseguinolaza finished five-over-par 77 in round two. Aseguinolaza tallied six-consecutive pars o the back nine and bireded the 476-yard, par-five third hole for the second day in a row.
Sophomore Kayla Smith rounded out Carolina's lineup, firing six-over-par 78. Smith was one of four Tar Heels to birdie the 12th hole in the second round.
Competing as an individual, senior Ava Bergner finished eight-over-par 80 in the second round. Carding three-straight pars, Bernger birded the 187-yard, par-three 14th hole.
After the first round at Columbia Country Club, Duke is leading the Gamecock Intercollegiate with a second-round score of three-over-par 291.
