Women's Golf Defeats NC State at Big Four Challenge

RALEIGH, N.C. – After falling in the morning match to No. 3 Wake Forest, Carolina bounced back in the consolation to take third in the Big Four Challenge on Saturday. The Tar Heels defeated the Wolfpack in four of five matches at NC State's Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.
Freshman Crista Izuzquiza and junior Jennifer Zhou both won their matches six up with four and five holes left, respectively. Freshmen Natalia Aseguinolaza and Nicole Adams clinched their matches, one up, on the final hole of the day.
Sophomore Krista Junkkari dropped her match 4&3 to NC State's Isabel Amezcua.
There were eight individuals from all four teams that competed in stroke play outside of the match play portion of the day. Nicole Lu and Ava Bergner carded scores of 79 and 82, good for second and fourth place, respectively.
Up next, Carolina travels to Charlottesville, Virginia for Cavalier Match Play April 6-7.
