GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina goalkeeper Amanda Hendry has been named the spring's first Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the league. Hendry, a senior from Wilton, Conn., made eight saves as UNC shut out Louisville Friday 2-0 in the spring opener.
The honor is the third of 2020-21 for Hendry, who also earned All-ACC Tournament honors in the fall. The shutout was the fifth of the season for the Tar Heels (11-1), with Hendry earning the win in each one.
Hendry leads the ACC in goals against average (1.175) and saves percentage (.808).
Duke's Darcy Bourne and Wake Forest's Hannah Maxwell were recognized as Co-Offensive Players of the Week.
Next up for the Tar Heels is the first road game of the spring, as they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., to face Wake Forest on Saturday at noon.
