CHAPEL HILL—No. 2 ranked North Carolina dominated Boston College on Saturday, defeating the Eagles, 7-0, inside Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center after a cold start to the day moved the match indoors.
Â
Carolina's strong performance advanced its record to 14-1 on the season, 6-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference after dropping its first match of the season at sixth-ranked Virginia last weekend.
Â
This was the first and only regular-season match-up between North Carolina and Boston College, but they could meet again in the ACC Championship taking place in Rome, Ga. later this month.
Â
North Carolina began the day by taking the doubles point with wins on all three courts, winning 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1 in the three matches. UNC then won all six singles matches in straight sets.
Â
William Blumberg picked up the first singles point for the Tar Heels with a win on No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Mac Kiger and Logan Zapp followed with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles to clinch the team victory. Benjamin Sigouin, Brian Cernoch and Simon Soendergaard closed out the 7-0 victory with wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
Â
The Tar Heels will be back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Duke at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
