CHAPEL HILL – Brianna Pinto and Rachel Jones each garnered All-America honors, the United Soccer Coaches announced on Thursday afternoon.
Pinto, selected to the First Team, makes her second appearance on the First Team after she earned the accolade after her sophomore season in 2019.
Pinto currently ranks fourth in the country with 13 goals this season, which included a five-game span (Nov. 15-April 13) in which she scored eight goals and tallied three assists. Against Tennessee on March 27, she recorded North Carolina's sixth hat trick since 2010. She enters the College Cup with 31 points in the 2020-21 season, which checks in at fourth in the country and second in the ACC.
The No. 3 overall pick in the NWSL draft by Sky Blue FC, she was selected as a First-Team All-ACC selection for the third-straight year after her fall slate.
Jones, an ACC scholar-athlete, ranks second on the 2021 Tar Heel squad with six goals. A leader on-and-off the pitch, she has tallied 17 points this season, which has included five assists. She is also a perfect 3-for-3 on penalty kicks this season.
The Lawrenceville, Ga., native was a First Team All-ACC selection after her performance in the fall slate.
North Carolina seeks its 23rd national championship this weekend when it participates in the 2020 College Cup, which begins tonight at 8:30 p.m. against Santa Clara.
