Serretti and Gillian Named To All-ACC Academic Team

CHAPEL HILL – Danny Serretti and Gage Gillian have been named to the All-ACC Academic Team, the conference announced on Thursday.
Serretti and Gillian are two of the 56 honorees, who have each maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their careers, as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters.
Serretti, a sophomore exercise and sport science major, started 55 games at shortstop for the Tar Heels in 2021. He led the Carolina with 18 doubles and posted a .249 average at the plate. The Berkeley Heights, N.J., native collected a season-high four hits against NC State in the ACC Tournament en route to a 9-6 win against the Wolfpack.
A Spring Hill, Tenn. Native, Gillian ranked third on the Tar Heel pitching staff with 24 appearances. He posted a 2.34 ERA with 49 strikeouts, nine walks, and a team-high four saves. Opponents hit just .203 off of the management major.
The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September of 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released later this month.
