Men's Soccer To Host Marshall Sunday During FallFest
August 12, 2021 | Men's Soccer
CHAPEL HILL—The University of North Carolina men's soccer team will kick off its 2021 season with an exhibition scrimmage against defending NCAA champion Marshall on Sunday August 15 at 8:30 p.m. at Dorrance Field.Â
Although the lineups for each team may have changed, the scrimmage will feature a rematch of two teams that met in the 2020 NCAA College Cup semifinals  in Cary, N.C. The Thundering Herd edged Carolina, 1-0, and went on to win the national title two days later.
Sunday's scrimmage will coincide with the 25th anniversary FallFest, to be held nearby Dorrance Field on the UNC campus. The Carolina Union's annual FallFest celebration provides a fun welcome to campus for all. New and returning Tar Heels have the opportunity to meet each other, participate in student activities and engage with university departments to learn more about campus opportunities to enhance their Carolina experience.
FallFest is held in August each year immediately following First Year Convocation on Sunday Aug. 15. The event includes performances, interactive activities and games, food and swag. Learn more about FallFest event information and how to get involved at fallfest.unc.edu.
The Tar Heels return nine of 11 starters from last year's College Cup squad for 11th-year head coach Carlos Somoano.Â
Carolina will open the 2021 regular season on August 26 against Bucknell.
