Another Big Weekend For Waters, Tar Heels In AU Pro Lacrosse Ranks
August 16, 2021 | Women's Lacrosse
CHAPEL HILL—Caylee Waters posted perhaps her best weekend as a professional as former University of North Carolina women's lacrosse players continued to star in the fourth weekend of the Athletes Unlimited professional league.
Waters, a two-time National Goalkeeper of the Year and 2016 NCAA champion at Carolina, has enjoyed some tremendous efforts during the first four weeks of the Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse season, but her performance against Team Glynn on Monday morning might have sealed a spot in a captain's chair for the final week of the campaign.
Waters made eight saves and allowed just six goals as Team Cummings secured a 10-6 victory over Team Glynn to complete the Week Four schedule at Maureen Hendricks Field at the Maryland SoccerPlex.
Led by Waters, Team Cummings allowed just three goals in the opening three quarters while surging to a 10-3 advantage. Waters made five of her eight stops in the first 24 minutes as Team Cummings limited its opponent to just 14 shots.
Midfielder Marie McCool, Waters' former UNC teammate, led the charge offensively for Team Cummings with three goals and two assists on Monday.
Other Tar Heel highlights from Week Four in AU action:
• Emily Parros scored four goals and dished out an assist in a 16-9 win for Team Cummings over Team Arsenault on Sunday, claiming the MVP 1 award.
• McCool had two goals, including her second two-pointer of the season, in Saturday's 10-8 win for Team Wood over Team Cummings.
