Havenaar and McCormick Join UNC Volleyball Staff

CHAPEL HILL – North Carolina head coach Joe Sagula has announced the additions of volunteer assistant coach Phoebe Havenaar and director of operations Kyle McCormick to his staff.
Havenaar arrives in Chapel Hill after spending last season as an assistant at Davidson College. There she helped assist the staff with offensive and defensive strategy, focusing on the middle blocker position, while also assisting with administrative and travel responsibilities.
Prior to her time with the Wildcats, Havenaar, a Naperville, Ill., native, was a standout player on the court at Wingate University, a Division II school in Wingate, N.C.
As a Bulldog, Havenaar was an all-conference player in the South Atlantic Conference, was named a ACVA All-American in 2018 and garnered NCAA All-Region honors.
"We're very excited to have Phoebe as part of our coaching staff this year," Sagula said.
"She has a great work ethic and a passion for coaching. She's already been a great addition to our pre-season, bringing her experiences as a coach at Davidson last season and as a player at Wingate."
"In the past year she has established herself as one of the bright young coaches in our profession, committed to learning and growing."
Also joining the staff is Kyle McCormick, who will be taking over as the team's director of operations.
Born and raised in Chapel Hill, the 2021 UNC graduate has been working with the team for the last three years in multiple roles, including as a practice player and a manager.
"Kyle will continue be a great addition in his new role and has helped us make the transition in this important position for this year," Sagula said.
"He's taking over the reins form our veteran Paula Giles, who is preparing for her growing family. Kyle was a very successful student at UNC, while playing with the men's volleyball team and grew in his role and become our head manager. This experience and familiarity with our staff, players and program has made him a great addition for the season."
