GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – For the second time this season, North Carolina senior forward Erin Matson has been recognized as the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week. The honor follows a weekend in which she scored three goals and added two assists as the Tar Heels (6-3) beat a pair of top-15 opponents.
Louisville junior back Julie Kouijzer was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week, also for the second time.
On Friday in the Tar Heels' ACC opener, Matson assisted on the second goal of the game and then scored the fifth in the Tar Heels' 6-1 win over No. 5 Boston College. On Sunday against No. 15 UConn, she scored the first two and assisted on the third goal in Carolina's 3-1 win.
After two weekends at home, fifth-ranked UNC hits the road again to play games at No. 11 Syracuse on Friday and at Albany on Sunday.
UNC's next home game is on Oct. 8 vs. Duke.
