Good Start For Men's Tennis Saturday

The Tar Heels picked up a pair of singles wins and swept all three of their doubles matches in action against players from the University of Illiniois.
Mac Kiger and Anuj Watane both won their singles matches, with Kiger picking up a win over a ranked opponent by beating Illinois' #113 Alex Brown, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4. Â
Brian Cernoch, Logan Zapp and Peter Murphy lost their singles matches.
Meanwhile, Carolina players went 3-0 in doubles action. Cernoch and Kiger, ranked #53 nationally, beat Hunter Heck and Lucas Horve of Illinois, 7-6 (7-2). Twentieth-ranked Zapp and Casey Kania defeated the Illini's Gabrielius Guzauskas and Kweisi Kenyatte, 6-4. Watane and Murphy teamed up to defeat Alex Brown and Nic Meister of Illinois, 6-1.
MLK Invitational action will continue from Atlanta on Saturday and Sunday.
