Moreno Named Preseason ACC Defensive Player Of The Year By ILWomen

CHAPEL HILL—North Carolina fifth-year senior goalie Taylor Moreno has earned Preseason Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors from Inside Lacrosse, the magazine announced on Friday. ILWomen named one offensive and one defensive player of the year from each of the nation's women's lacrosse conferences.
Moreno, a three-time All-America, the 2021 National Goalie of the Year and a two-time ACC Tournament MVP, garnered the honors in the ACC on defense. Defending Tewaaraton Award winner Charlotte North of Boston College was the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.
The Tar Heels will begin their season officially on Saturday February 12 at James Madison. Carolina will get its final tune-up for the 2022 campaign when it plays its alumnae scrimmage on Saturday February 5 in Chapel Hill.
