WLAX No. 2 In Preseason ILWomen/IWLCA Poll

CHAPEL HILL—The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team will start the 2022 season ranked No. 2 in the nation in the ILWomen/IWLCA Preseason Poll, released on Monday by Inside Lacrosse and the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Boston College took the top spot in the preseason ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Poll. The reigning national champion earned 24 first place votes, while Carolina earned two.
Syracuse (No. 3), Northwestern (No. 4) and Notre Dame (No. 5) formed the rest of the top five. Stony Brook, Florida, Duke, Maryland and Loyola were ranked No. 6 through No. 10, respectively.
The Atlantic Coast Conference and Big Ten tied for the most teams in the Top 25 with six teams each. The ACC placed six teams in the top 11—No. 1 Boston College, No. 2 UNC, No. 3 Syracuse, No. 5 Notre Dame, No. 8 Duke and No. 11 Virginia.
This preseason poll marks the first ILWomen/IWLCA poll of the year. Inside Lacrosse and the IWLCA made the decision to join forces in the 2022 season's weekly polls for the first time this season.
Carolina will begin its 2022 season on Saturday February 12 at No. 12 James Madison.
