For the third week in a row and the fourth time this season, UNC forward Erin Matson has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Â
The Tar Heel senior scored three times over the course of two weekend road wins against ranked teams. In a 4-3 ACC victory at No. 19 Boston College on Friday, the Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, native scored to increase the top-ranked Tar Heels' lead to two, 4-2, late in the game, before the Eagles hit a penalty stroke in the final minutes to again cut the margin to one.
Â
In a 3-0 win at No. 12 UConn on Sunday, Matson scored UNC's first two goals and, in the process, tied the ACC's all-time scoring record with 306 career points. She leads the ACC this season in goals, goals per game, points and points per game (16 goals and three assists through 11 games). She has five multi-goal games this season and has scored at least one goal in all but two games.
Â
The honor brings Matson's total number of ACC weekly honors to 18.
Â
Wake Forest freshman goalkeeper Ellie Todd was named the Defensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row.
