Tori Hansen Named ACC Defensive Player Of The Week

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC senior Tori Hansen has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced on Tuesday.
She is the first player to win the weekly award twice during the 2022 campaign.
Hansen scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in Carolina's 1-0 victory over Wake Forest on Friday as UNC posted its third consecutive shutout win. The Tar Heels held the Demon Deacons to just one shot on goal and seven total shots for the match despite only controlling 47 percent of the possession.
The Tar Heels lead the ACC with 10 shutouts this season and have allowed just nine goals in 15 games, second-fewest in the ACC. UNC also ranks second in the ACC with 0.60 goals allowed per game.
Carolina returns to action Thursday against No. 4 Florida State in Tallahassee. The game will be televised on the ACC Network beginning at 8 p.m.
