Austin Greaser, David Ford, Dylan Menante In Top Eight

Austin Greaser, David Ford and Dylan Menante finished in the top eight to lead the University of North Carolina to a nine-stroke victory over six top-10 ranked teams in the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational Tuesday at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

This is the Tar Heels' first team title of the season and the 11^th under sixth-year head coach Andrew DiBitetto and associate head coach Matt Clark.

Carolina shot under par in all three rounds, including a 5-under 275 in today's third and final round. UNC was tied for the lead with Georgia Tech after Monday's first round (278), led Stanford by four after Monday's second round (272) and finished the 54-hole event with a 15-under-par total of 825.

"This was a big-time win," says DiBitetto. "Two things stand out. First, we had a significant bounce back after not playing well at Olympia Fields in our previous tournament, and second, we went into today with a small lead on a PGA Tour golf course against many of the best teams and players in the country and all five of our guys shot even par or better. Both of those show the composure, confidence, heart and grit our guys have."

Texas Tech was second at 6-under 834. Pepperdine and Arizona State tied for third at 5 under, Vanderbilt was fifth at -1, Oklahoma State was sixth (+4), Stanford was seventh (+5), defending NCAA champion Texas was eighth (+8), and Florida, Oregon and TCU tied for ninth at 11 over.

Greaser (70-66-68) tied for third at 6-under 204, two shots behind medalist Gustav Frimodt of TCU, who shot 66-65 over the final two rounds.

Ford (70-66-70) tied for sixth at 4-under 206, Menante (69-70-68) tied for eighth at 3-under 207, Ryan Burnett (69-70-70) tied for 15^th at 1-under 209 and Peter Fountain (71-72-69) tied for 27^th at 2-over 212.

Greaser and Menante shared UNC scoring honors in the final round with 68s and Fountain added a 69.

This was Greaser's eighth top-five finish in a college tournament. Ford and Menante posted top-10 performances for the eighth and 15^th times, respectively.

The Tar Heels return to competition Oct. 10-12 at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla., in the Jackson T. Stephens Cup.
